European Commission

ESN’s collaboration with the European Commission (EC) is one of mutual respect and trust and the collaboration is fruitful on both ends. Among the European Institutions, the EC is the most important and closest partner as we are both concerned with the implementation of mobility programmes.

As ESN is constantly promoting and enriching the Erasmus+ programme, our main cooperation is with the Higher Education and Erasmus Unit. There is a mutual interest in using the new programme to further promote mobility to Higher Education students around Europe.  

For many years now, ESN has received an operational grant to support the work of the organisation. Additionally, ESN received project funding for the STORY project, and the EVA project and has been a part of the Erasmus Impact Study. 

 

Council of Europe

Council of Europe is the organisation of 47 countries, which supports human rights and democracy. The Council of Europe is Europe’s leading human rights organisation. It includes 47 member states, 28 of which are members of the European Union. All Council of Europe member states have signed up to the European Convention on Human Rights, a treaty designed to protect human rights, democracy and the rule of law. 

ESN has one Liaison Officer, on behalf of the European Youth Forum, in the Advisory Council on Youth (AC) of the Council of Europe. The AC is made up of 30 representatives from youth NGOs and networks who provide opinions and input on all youth sector activities. This gives ESN the opportunity to directly be involved in the policy-making process of youth policies.

ESN has gotten various forms of support from the Council of Europe since 2014, notably through the European Youth Foundation. Several times they have supported our training structure Eduk8. ESN has also had study sessions in the Council of Europe's Youth Centers in Budapest and Strasbourg (see here, here and here).
