The NEO-ICP-ENFP Meeting took place between the 5th - 6th of February, in Brussels, bringing together key stakeholders from different countries. The event gathered European contact points, partner countries’ Erasmus+ offices and national focal points, offering a unique platform for in-depth discussions on the progression of the Erasmus+ programme, including the outcomes of the 2024 selections and insights into the 2025 call for proposals. With an agenda filled with workshops, presentations, and networking opportunities, the meeting aimed to enhance global cooperation and the effectiveness of Erasmus+ implementation.
ESN International was presented by three delegates: Nensi Mkrtchyan, LO for Eastern Partnership (EAP), Emna Memmi, LO for Africa and Middle East, Simone Lepore, Policy Assistant.
Fostering relations with NEOs in Eastern Partnership
Nensi Mkrtchyan, LO for EAP, participated in networking and brainstorming activities with the National Erasmus+ Offices (NEO) from EAP countries. The meeting provided valuable networking opportunities, fostering stronger relationships between NEOs and ESN representatives. NEOs from EAP countries expressed positive attitudes toward closer collaboration with ESN member National organisations in their respective countries. A key highlight was the discussion about potential joint initiatives to strengthen collaboration between Eastern Partnership countries.
Fostering relations with NEOs in the Southern Mediterranean and Middle East and ENFP in Africa
Emna Memmi, LO for Africa and the Middle East participated in networking and strategic discussions with Erasmus+ National Focal Points (ENFP) from Sub-Saharan Africa and Oman, as well as the National Erasmus+ Organisations from the Southern Mediterranean. The event was a milestone in establishing direct contact with key Commission officials responsible for her region and portfolio. Emna took part in the Regional Workshop for the Southern Mediterranean and the Regional ENFP Group Meeting for Sub-Saharan Africa, both of which provided valuable opportunities to strengthen ties and explore potential collaborations between stakeholders across these regions.
Overall, the Meeting served as a crucial platform for fostering collaboration between third countries non-associated with the EU, reinforcing the role of ESN in enhancing mobility and institutional cooperation. As internationalisation becomes a priority for higher education, the meeting provided a unique opportunity to address mobility challenges, funding accessibility, and visa-related obstacles, which are critical for students and young professionals from both regions. Strengthening the dialogue between NEOs, ICP, ENFP, and ESN ensures that mobility programmes are not only more inclusive but also better aligned with the real needs of students. The event also paved the way for future joint initiatives, reinforcing ESN’s commitment to supporting international students and fostering cross-border educational exchanges that contribute to a more interconnected and empowered youth community.
