In the heart of European Union, between the 30th of September and 1st of October, the Erasmus Student Network will organise two key events that will mark the beginning of our advocacy efforts for the new Erasmus+ Programme and another milestone for the Enriching Communities through Engaged Mobilities project.
The Future is Erasmus: Celebrating Unity in Diversity
Kicking off in September, the Erasmus Student Network presents the Future is Erasmus initiative, our advocacy effort for the future of the Erasmus+ Programme 2028-2034. And what better way to launch this initiative than to bring it out to the public? On the 30th of September, ESN will introduce the concept of flag parades—an initiative previously organised internally at our events—into the heart of EU policymaking.
Students, civil society, and institutions will be invited to join this celebration of unity in diversity on the 30th of September between 16:00 and 18:00, starting in Parc du Cinquantenaire and finishing at the European Parliament. Participants are encouraged to bring flags or elements representing their countries or the European Union.

Enriching Communities through Engaged Mobilities Conference
On the 1st of October, the Erasmus Student Network will host another milestone of the ECEM project. The Enriching Communities through Engaged Mobilities conference will gather attendees to explore how enhancing student participation in civic engagement initiatives drives societal change, in alignment with the fourth priority of Erasmus+.
The conference will take place at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, specifically in U-Residence, Blvd Général Jacques 271, 1050 Ixelles / Brussels, on the 1st of October between 10:00 and 17:00.

Throughout the conference, we will provide lunch and coffee breaks. To support us logistically, registration for the conference is mandatory, but attendance is free.
About the ECEM project
The Enriching Communities through Engaged Mobilities project began in 2023, led by the Erasmus Student Network with support from the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA), SGroup - Universities in Europe, Institute for Development in Education (IDE), and CitizensLab (CLab). The project aims to design measures that increase students’ participation in civic engagement initiatives by building connections with Higher Education Institutions and Civil Society Organisations.
The ECEM project’s goals are intrinsically linked to the fourth priority of the Erasmus+ Programme, with the following objectives:
- Civic Engagement: Enhancing the civic engagement component of mobilities in the field of internationalisation of Higher Education, making interaction with local communities a standard practice during mobilities.
- Recognition: Ensuring recognition of learning outcomes for participants involved in civic engagement initiatives.
- Cross-Sectoral Cooperation: Improving collaboration frameworks between Higher Education Institutions and other societal actors to ensure mobilities contribute to societal change and shared European values.
