Credit recognition

  • Only 66% of the Erasmus students in possession of a valid Learning Agreement prior to their exchange had their studies abroad fully recognized.
  • 5.4% of them – despite having full recognition – still had to take all courses or pass exams from their curriculum at the home institution after returning from the stay abroad. Less than half (42.6%) had all credits recognized and were not required to take any courses or pass exams at the home institution after their exchange. One reason is that students often had to deal with different authorities during the negotiations.
  • Only 45% of the Erasmus respondents had exactly the same party or parties signing the Learning Agreement and recognizing the courses afterwards, and a good quarter even had completely different responsible for signing and recognizing. It was found that this factor had at least a minor impact on the success of course recognition.
