One week from now, the Erasmus Generation will meet in Ancona, Italy, for its biggest gathering of the year - the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM). This edition of the conference, taking place from the 3rd until the 6th of April, focuses on Empowering Youth as the Changemakers of Society, ensuring 1000+ participants are ready to guide the waves of change for the improvement of student mobility and society as a whole.

The whole programme of EGM Ancona 2025, counting over 100 sessions and activities, surrounds the main theme and the following two pillars:

  • Active Participation and Youth Engagement in Local Communities;
  • Impact of Youth Work and Volunteering on Internationalisation.

With the opening, closing, and other joint moments happening at the Teatro delle Muse, a stunning gem of neoclassical architecture, the rest of the programme will take place at the Faculty of Economics, thanks to the wonderful collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Marche, the main partner of EGM Ancona 2025. Moreover, the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is honoured to have the support of the Municipality of Ancona, the hosting city, the Marche Region, the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the National Institute for Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research (INDIRE), Fondazione Cariverona, and the European Commission, without whom this event would not be possible.

Some of the highlights of EGM Ancona 2025 include the Flag Parade, a symbolic march through the city celebrating the colours and unity in diversity of the Erasmus Generation, followed by the Welcome Ceremony, with keynote speeches and cultural performances. The EGM Expo, known as the event's knowledge hub, is a space for volunteers of ESN to promote and learn about mobility opportunities across Europe but also to directly interact with higher education institutions representatives and sponsors of the event.

During Saturday morning, the participants, together with the external jury of our esteemed guests, will be able to witness and participate in choosing the Erasmus Destination of the Year 2025, the title that is currently being chased by five finalists: Aarhus (Denmark), Łódź (Poland), Riga (Latvia), Tallinn (Estonia), and Wrocław (Poland). The local ESN branches behind this work have proved their outstanding support, as well as their impressive collaborations with other organisations and higher education institutions, towards supporting international student mobility and enriching their local communities. The winner will be revealed on Sunday, following the ESN Awards - a celebration of inspiring initiatives from around the Erasmus Student Network.

The Erasmus Generation Meeting brings together stakeholders and student representatives in a dynamic space where they collaborate, exchange ideas, and shape the future of international education. It highlights the Erasmus Generation’s dedication to improving learning mobility programmes, empowering young people, and fostering skills development.
