As we near the end of 2024, ESN is happy to share some exciting milestones in our work with the ESC-Tension 2 project team to boost awareness and adoption of the European Student Card (ESC) across Europe. Since we last met in July at the University of Aveiro, our partners, led by Fondazione ENDISU, have been hard at work to map out how ESC can best support students in their journey through university life.

The ESC-Tension 2 project, funded by the EU, is all about creating a more connected and student-friendly Europe. By developing tools and raising awareness, we’re helping students access the services they need with ease.

A Focus on the student journey

One of our main efforts this year as ESN has been building a clear model of the “ESC Student Journey,” to cover the phases every student goes through - from joining a university, to participating fully, to graduating. We’re proud to say that this model shows exactly how ESC can make life easier by connecting students to services and resources across Europe. This was a team effort enriched by the first-hand experience of ESN ensuring that students’ needs are always front and centre.

Setting the stage for 2025

With this foundational work in place, our next step is to bring ESC to life for students. We’re working on real-world scenarios showing how ESC can help students navigate their studies and travel in Europe. Starting next year, these scenarios will be featured in practical resources - videos, infographics, and more - that will form part of the “Student Toolbox.” This phase will kick off in early 2025 as we keep working to make ESC accessible and useful for students everywhere.
