The fifth edition of the largest student-led conference in Europe
In just two weeks, the Erasmus Generation will come together in Split, Croatia for its largest gathering of the year, the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM). This edition of the conference, taking place from the 16th to the 19th of April, focuses on Shaping Skills through Student Mobility, ensuring the academic recognition of learning outcomes and competences gained through international mobility.
The whole programme of EGM Split 2026, encompassing over 100 sessions and activities, surrounds the main theme and the following two pillars:
- Development of Competences through Volunteering and Student-led Mobility;
- Impact and Recognition of Student Engagement.
With opening, closing, and other joint moments happening at the Gripe Hall, an iconic indoor arena in Split, the rest of the programme will take place at the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Economics, thanks to the fantastic collaboration with the University of Split, the main partner of EGM Split 2026. Moreover, the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is honoured to have the support of the Municipality of Split, the hosting city, Split-Dalmatia County, Student Center Split, and the European Commission, without whom this event would not be possible.
Some of the highlights of EGM Split 2026 include the Flag Parade, a symbolic march through the old town celebrating the colours and unity in diversity of the Erasmus Generation, followed by the Welcome Ceremony, with keynote speeches and cultural performances. The EGM Expo, known as the event's knowledge hub, is a space for volunteers of ESN to promote mobility programmes at the higher education institutions in their countries, but also to learn about opportunities across Europe.
During Saturday morning, the participants, together with the external jury of our esteemed guests, will be able to witness and participate in choosing the Erasmus Destination of the Year 2026, the title that is currently being chased by five finalists: Gothenburg (Sweden), Istanbul (Türkiye), Munich (Germany), Santander (Spain), and Turin (Italy). The ESN sections behind this work have shown incredible dedication, building brilliant partnerships with other organisations and universities to support international students and give back to their local communities. The winner will be revealed on Sunday, following the ESN Awards, where we’ll be celebrating the fantastic initiatives led by the Erasmus Generation.
The Erasmus Generation Meeting serves as a dynamic harbour where stakeholders and students gather to shape the future of international education. By bridging the Port of Mobility with the Gateway to Skills, the event transforms international experience into seen growth, empowering the Erasmus Generation to improve exchange programmes and lead the way in changing the future of education.
